Carla Speed McNeil is the author and artist of FINDER. She has been working in comics since 1997, and has been working constantly since then. In addition to eight printed volumes of FINDER, she has drawn QUEEN & COUNTRY: OPERATION: STORMFRONT, written by Greg Rucka, published by Oni Press; adapted and drawn PENDRAGON: THE MERCHANT OF DEATH (based on the prose book by D. J. MacHale) for Simon & Schuster; drawn the short story HERE. IN MY HEAD (with writer Elizabeth Genco) to COMIC BOOK TATTOO from Image; drawn fan-favorite FRANK IRONWINE by Warren Ellis for Apparat/Avatar, and drawn two pages of TRANSMETROPOLITAN, also by Warren Ellis, for DC/Vertigo.
I’ve been nominated eight times for an Eisner award and, what ho, won once! Won two Ignatz awards (way cool, they’re bricks), and the Kim Yale New Talent award from Friends Of Lulu. The Eisner is good-looking too, it’s a very heavy spinning globe, and the Kim Yale is a lucite spike with which I shall dispatch any and all intruders.
I’m in Maryland, and Big Planet in Bethesda is my comics joint. Come see me at SPX, I’m always there.
